went to the navigli area again today... and discovered that there are a lot of bookstores there! :) among other cool shops..
really like how they shelve the new books together with secondhand ones, and treat them with just the same respect. (but they still stick on a lower price tag :])

colomba

Colomba Pasquale ("Easter Dove" in English) is an Easter counterpart of the two well known Italian Christmas desserts, Panettone and Pandoro.
The dough for the Colomba is made in a similar manner, with flour, eggs, sugar, natural yeast and butter, but usually only contains candied peel and no raisins (unlike panettone).
It is then fashioned into a dove shape (colomba in Italian) and finally is topped with coarse sugar and almonds before being baked.

now that easter is over, lots of them are on sale in the supermarket. my roomate and i bought this (for 1.5euro! see my lovely venice cat mug for scale) to share two days ago. it's gone now. but she's bought another one :)
